Editing quiz

Hey, all you copy editors out there with a few spare moments at the beginning of the shift! Any suggestions for the Fair 'n' Balanced Network about the homepage hed play on this story?

Uh, for one (maybe this is too obvious?) that ain't no Stars and Bars. It's a Confederate Navy Ensign, from the look of it and from the description.

Apparently it wasn't obvious enough for the hed writer. First trophy to Tybalt!

Any other concerns to raise?

Well, it was found in 2011, which means (a) that it's only 146 years, if you care about the arithmetic, and (b) that the discovery of the flag isn't the actual news story here, because it happened two years ago. So, yeah, if you want the headline to be about what the story is about (i.e., the fact that the flag has now been presented to a museum), then you might want to change that.

(I had no idea I had anything in common with the people who write headlines for Fox News, but apparently I do—they don't read Fox News stories, either.)
